Global Warming message

This is a series of nine small textile art pieces with a message

The squares have a torquoise felt background. I layered snippets of silk, sheer fabrics, taffeta, chiffon, metallic fabrics and metallic threads and then a layer of chiffon on top. I stitched through the "sandwich" then melted through the layers with a soldering iron. On top I embellished the tiny squares with hand stitching in more metallic thread and added beads

I mounted the squares on paper that I had painted myself in pumpkin orange and gold and added snippets of text. I arranged the pieces so that the text follows on. The message relates to melting ice, snow thaw and running water and finally it's effect on the environment

Beautiful work Carolyn and good use of the complimentaries. The orange makes the stitched lozenges sing! It's a beautiful shade. Thank you for sharing your method. I assume you are going to mount these together?
