Warm winter colours

Today, I'm turning up the colour with warm cerise, fuschia pinks and purples

Starting with this beautiful postcard that Michala Kaylacoo sent me with my silver tree piece. Her stitched pieces on felt are so beautiful and full of detail and colour

This stunning cuff bracelet was made for me by Julie. Julie gave it to me when we met up recently when she was down on holiday in St. Ives. I love it because of all the layers of net, scrim, squares of hand dyed variegated velvet, shells, beads and little stitches. There's a lot of love sewn into this!

Julie and I share a love of St. Ives and everything associated with the seaside so it was the perfect gift and it fits me perfectly. What a lovely friend to have ♥

Isn't it beautiful?

Lovely, lovely details

Julie also gave me this piece of purple fabric that she dyed with blackberries. Her berry dyeing came out much darker than mine. We had a good chat about what we each did differently to get the different effects

The ribbon and thread is from Connie - thank you dear Connie ♥

I got the dark purple beads in Falmouth recently because they remind me of elderberries

I was honoured that my elderberry wine still life photograph was used in an article promoting the benefits of elderberries. Elderberries are packed with vitamin C and are therefore a very good natural remedy for colds and flu (as well as being delicious)

More purple and pink treasures from Connie ♥

Connie wrote "nice for crochet flowers"

I have set myself the target of making a crochet flower by the end of the year. I just need to dig out my crochet patterns which haven't seen the light of day for a long time ...

The pink silk was part of my red parcel from Gunnel

A bright pink crochet beanie hat - a blast from the past - with yummy choccies and little pink paper flowers from my dear friend Cathie

I used the paper flowers on a couple of my painted and inked distressed tags

This is a very soft scarf that I knitted for my sister. I wish you could feel how soft and silky this is against your face. I made myself one too :o)

Silky soft!

Cathie sent me this card in her recent parcel. It's called "Poppy Time" from an original watercolour by Phyllis H. King. I love this very much and will stick it in my sketchbook

The yarn is called Mille Colori in damson and berries. Just the name of it sounds so rich! It is destined to be a pair of fingerless gloves when it grows up!

Inspired by fuschia pink and purple

Ending with precious gifts from Cathy in delicate purple and pink. Cathy gave me a small piece of fabric hand dyed from logwood, which gave a very beautiful, warm plummy purple. I'd like to try dyeing with logwood some time

A soft, pretty watercolour painting by Cathy Cullis

Well, that's my warm colour theme for today! Hope the pretty pinks and warm purples inspire you

I'll be back soon with my final colour theme and then there will be more of my own textile work and some techniques to share with you

Have a lovely weekend. Stay warm and snuggly while the storms blast around us!

Carolyn ♥

This post makes my heart race. It goes without saying (because I've said it oh a thousand times) that your sensitivity to color and beauty plays a huge part in the deliciousness of your blog - but what I love most - is the special way you combine your love for beauty with the generosity of other creative souls = resulting in these beautiful blog posts. This one litterally took my breath away! Such beautiful things. Now I'm off to visit some of these wonderful artists you've linked to.
