Playful pebbles

So sorry my blogging/commenting was very erratic during April but I'm back to showing a few more pebble sketchbook pages for anyone who loves pebbles like me

I find playing with pebbles so relaxing. These little samples are not perfect or anything - they are just me messing about with torn magazine images and watercolour pencils

I tore an image of different colour pebbles from a magazine and then played with extending the pebble shapes with my water colour pencils - blending and shading to match the pebble tones

Round pebbles shapes with the water colour pencils again - but using only three colours and blending them with water

Extending a pebble again with water colour pencils and white acrylic paint scratched into

And this is the edge of my sketchbook page with an image of a rusting boat on a shingle beach. I find this image restful

I will have more pebbles in the next post - probably monoprint samples

I won't be bringing the Erosion Bundles out again until I've finished my project/journal but just wanted to thank you all for your positive and uplifting comments about them. There has been a lot of interest in this project, not just in my bundles but the bundles of all the artists and the project in general. I'm really looking forward to the unveiling of the finished projects on 1st August

Have a good week ahead
Carolyn ♥

Carolyn no need to apologize for absences - different things take priority at different times, that's all.

I love the feel of a smooth stone in my hand too. Very nice palette you're using for your pebble samples.

There comes the silent moment
I look back on the years,
The losses and the changes
That brought on all the tears.

My life's a single pebble
The tide takes from the beach,
Lost among the breakers
The shore is out of reach.

I drift so far from others,
My hope is out of hand,
And like that single pebble
Washed to a distant land,
I'm tossed back from the ocean
And lost among the sand.
(a poem by S.P. Cormier)

I like this poem because so often I feel like a single pebble "lost among the sand."

I too love pebbles and stones and art work that incorporates or springs from the inspiration of these organic objects.
